well - the heart thing was a huge effort for a 5 yo
she is now able to confidently tell you that the purpose of the heart is to pump blood around the body so it can take oxygen to the body and the brain and take away "bad things" (I think CO2 was a bit too big a word for her). Sometimes the heart does not work properly and then you need to get a pacemaker (like her Nana and Grandmother) and it gets put inside the body with an operation and makes the heart work when it does not beat properly. And she had a photo of a pacemaker to show them.
My friend Sonya tha biology teacher at the school was very impressed with what she knows now. But not at the thought of all these little kids having to do this sort of thing - I think she would rather they were kids a little longer.
Picked up my very smelly little boy (and his friend the tick) from camp today as well - much to his sister's delight. She still gave him hugs and kisses even though he stank. I am horrified at how little flesh is on him - I nearly cut my fingers on his hip bones looking at the tick bite. I cansee some arguments on putting on weight coming on. Other than that he had a ball.
Lmao at Madame - she came home from Prep with a little body made from brown paper (a covered box for a body, a lunch bag for a head - with some crumpled paper inside it - and brown paper arms and legs) - all fine so far you say - but with the major veins and arteries drawn on it in red and blue pen. Only problem is she missed out the ones going into the head so her brothers were mean and told her that her brain was going to die. Then they had to say sorry when she started to cry.
Never a dull day... _________________

Hmmm - thinking there is a teacher with a picture of me on his dartboard now. Sooo not a happy camper with the p/t interviews tonight. I don't know about you but I expect teachers to have sample of my children's work with them for me to see - to help understand the comments being made (and from a professional point of view I ALWAYS had them to help prove my point and to show parents what I mean about my comments) - so I was very disappointed to have 7 out of 10 staff not have anything with them for the interviews.
Now several of them I could understand - but not the rest. I actually sent one teacher back to his staffroom to get the work. Pointed out that the interview was a waste of time without the work to look at. Then I crucified him. One of the items was not marked, one was missing and one was not my son's work. Then I added up the marks from those that were there and pointed out that the average did not match the grade on the report card. And then I really got stuck into him and told him what he was doing wrong.
I was really pissed - since he made the mistake of forgetting I used to work there and was a teacher AND more importantly taught physics at that school (so I knew exactly what I was talking about - and tried to tell me it was DS2 who was not understanding the theory. I don't think he will be making that mistake again in a hurry.
Other than those issues it was a good night (oh - and the stupid student who made the mistake of using the 'f' word in the carpark right outside my car when I had Madame in the car with me. So I wrote down his name and reported him too).
I am such a bitch!!
Going to scrap tonight (I hope)
Have a great day everyone. _________________

LOL....I love surprises
I had my hair coloured and highlighted - what a performance.....luckily my BF is also my hairdresser so it's a great excuse to spend most of the day gossiping
Then we both went to visit another friend who is a bit unwell and suddenly it's 6pm
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some Christmas tags under way...Hope everyone had a good day _________________ Michele |

well today i am thankful that although i need a new computer - at least the hard drive is ok and all my photos and documents are not lost
i am not thankful that they took 4 days to work this out - despite their promise to have it identified on monday when I took it in
so a new computer for me - sigh
still have trouble getting on the forum - won't get my full access until the 10th
other than that a normal thurs - pm school pick-up, some quick shopping, a soccer drop-off and then collapsing into bed as i am knackered
i have finished my prep 2010 term 1 album cover though - so am happy with that _________________

oh Ngaire - feeling bad for you, but at least all your stuff is safe. It would be so tragic to lose your photos etc...
Hope it's sorted really soon _________________ Michele |

thanks michele - we did do a backup a little while ago but not in the last month (it takes a whole day to do the full backup)
the stupid thing is the rest of the computer is fine - only the mother-board is shot - but you cannot get a new one so we have to get a new computer
i hate the computer industry and its planned obsolescence - having to buy new things just cause they make you _________________

Oh I know the feeling Ngaire
My laptop was just 1 yr old when the motherboard fried.. would have cost more to replace than what I paid for the laptop in the first place.. grrrr!
I can feel your anger and frustration! |

still sick - hate having a chest infection - it hurts just to breathe
getting over it but still so very tired - have just popped in for a minute to say hi and then going back to bed
have just been handed back my camera - so hoping all is well with it as I need it for the prep ball tomorrow night (might have to take my ventolin with me so I can survive it)
computer is still out for the count at the moment
hoping you are all in better condition than me _________________
